It’s red carpet season once again and everyone has their eyes fixed on the hair, makeup, and gorgeous gowns at every award show. My favorite thing about red carpet makeup is that it’s always a return to classic style; whether playing around with bold lip colors or adding a touch of metallic to a smoky eye, it’s always soft and understated.
I teamed up with Sephora and Marie Claire to create a red carpet inspired makeup look that you can re-create for any night out! It could be a fun night out dancing with your girlfriends, a date, or even a special occasion like a wedding or birthday party. I love this look because it’ll work on any coloring, and you can amp up or tone down the color impact depending on your complexion and preference.
For the base, I used one of my favorite foundations: The Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation. It’s the perfect formula for a skin-like finish; it’s lightweight but offers medium coverage and the most gorgeous subtle glow. Especially when you’re going for a smoky eye, it’s nice to keep the skin looking fresh and luminous! And speaking of luminous skin, I added a touch more glow with the Hourglass Vanish Flash Highlighting Stick in Rose Gold Flash. What I love about this highlighter is that it blends in seamlessly with your skin, giving that lit-from-within look that’s both buildable and long wearing.
For the eyes, I used one of the most luxurious eyeshadow palettes out there, the Tom Ford Eye Color Quad. I mixed the Honeymoon palette, which has more plum and purples tones, with the Nude Dip, which has more neutral tones. The formula on these shadows gives you control over how intensely you want the color payoff to be, and whether you’re going for a sheer wash of color or build to something more dramatic, each color gives a beautiful lustrous finish. With these colors I created a wearable smoky eye using the brown and plum tones to contour my eyes and shade the lower lash line, and the champagne and pearl tones to highlight the high points of my lids.
Finally, for the lips, I kept with the understated theme and used the YSL Tatouage Couture Liquid Matte Lip Stain in Nude Emblem. It’s the perfect ultra matte finish for a look like this but the formula is non-drying and long lasting.
As if a perfect shoot day with Sephora and Marie Claire wasn’t enough, they also hosted Annie Jaffrey, Arshia Moorjani, Diana Chantel, and me at a lovely brunch in New York City over the weekend. The four of us created our own versions of wearable red carpet looks and celebrated the partnership over afternoon cocktails and yummy food! It was so nice to meet more of the Sephora and Marie Claire teams (I also got to chat with some of the Sephora Pro’s; they’re some of the best artists around) and get excited for everything that’s to come in beauty this year!
